Safer Internet Day 2022

Today is Safer Internet Day, an annual global event that teaches and encourages safe Internet practices for all, especially children and young people. This year, the US’s theme is “Improving Well-Being Online,” focusing on important topics like cyberbulling, youth activism, body image, and social comparison.

Programs

ConnectSafely, the US host of Safer Internet Day, has interviewed and spoken with a wide range of experts for this year’s virtual programs, including researchers, influencers, and activists.

Programs for schools as well as parents and communities are available on the Safer Internet Day website, covering digital wellness on platforms like Instagram, TikTok, Discord, and more. These programs include videos, discussion prompts, and additional resources that can be found online.

Discussions will take place across the organization’s various social media platforms throughout the week, on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter, using the hashtag #SID2022.

Online resources

In addition to this year’s Safer Internet Day programs, parents, educators, and community members can learn more about keeping our children safe online through resources available year-round on the ConnectSafely website. ConnectSafely offers podcasts, video interviews, parent and teacher guides, and more, such as a project called Ask Trish that answers online safety advice questions on TikTok.
